SynopsisThat the short film seemed feature-length in the end is due neither to the suggestiveness of the interview nor to any of the exquisite details or the cleverly dosed score. The fun of it is their connection, the sophisticated space that allows for approximation and mutual respect. And the way David Lynch acts within this space: the "what's-happening" dramaturgy created via the back view was not arranged but was what he brought as a "present" (A. Jurek). The director is honest and brave enough to not cut out trivial bits or misunderstandings (…) As Jurek abstains from critical questions, Lynch seems to open up. We never saw Lynch as friendly and likable as here. It's a pity that "Does that hurt you?" only takes 30 minutes – an informative and imaginative as well as surprisingly intimate film.
